Samuel Oldknow grew a breathtaking industrial empire through the cotton industry, changing the landscape of Mellor and Marple.

Oldknow’s Mill is the remains of the biggest spinning mill the world had ever seen. He was also responsible for Marple aqueduct, Marple Lime kilns, and the tranquil Peak Forest canal. Visit the website to read about Samuel Oldknow and the local treasures
