Wigan Pier

Wigan Pier is a historic and cultural landmark gaining fame primarily through its association with George Orwell’s 1937 book “The Road to Wigan Pier”. However, the term “Wigan Pier” originally referred to a wharf on the Leeds and Liverpool Canal.
