For many people, walking independently, either solo or with friends of family, is their favourite way to explore. To help you do this on the GM Ringway trail, we are gradually adding a variety of resources on our Route pages. These include a link to maps of the trail stages on the Plotaroute site, which can be followed on your phone browser. We are also gradually adding all stages of the trail – plus a number of shorter and step-free walks – to the Go Jauntly walking app. In addition, we will soon be providing downloadable PDFs of each stage, including written directions, photographs and mapping.

Nonetheless, we would advise all independent walkers to also carry their own maps – and know how to read them – particularly on the higher and hillier parts of the GM Ringway trail. Please read our safety tips for more advice on staying out of danger.
