Andy Bradley, who was diagnosed with a brain tumour last year, is taking on the GM Ringway walking challenge to raise funds for The Christie NHS Foundation Trust in Manchester. The 59 year-old chartered surveyor from Knutsford – who is walking the full 200-mile length of the trail in individual stages – has already raised over £10,000 for the Trust’s charitable arm, The Christie Charity.
Andy was diagnosed with the most aggressive form of brain cancer – glioblastoma – last January. Despite leading an active lifestyle and experiencing no prior symptoms, he was rushed to hospital where tests revealed the devastating news. He is now among the first patients to join a pioneering clinical trial called PORTRAIT at The Christie, which is testing a new way to treat brain tumours.

Talking about his GM Ringway charity challenge Andy said: “This walk is not just about fundraising, but about maintaining a positive mindset and showing gratitude to the medical team supporting me. I think it’s also important to raise awareness for brain cancer and support others facing a similar diagnosis.
“The great thing about the GM Ringway challenge is that I can do it over several weeks and get friends and family to join me on different sections. We’ve also met some incredible people along the way with their own stories, who are eager to donate.”
Andy’s story, and the ground-breaking treatment he is undergoing at The Christie, has also come to the attention of the media, with ITV’s Granada Reports having recently broadcast a piece about his incredible fundraising efforts.
