Staff from Castlefield Recruitment, a Manchester firm which specialises in public sector employment, recently completed the entire 200-mile GM Ringway trail in just one day; an accomplishment which hasn’t been achieved before. The event involved around 30 Castlefield colleagues splitting in to one and two-person teams, with each team taking on one of the GM Ringway’s 20 individual stages.

As well as being a great team building exercise, the whole endeavour was also used to raise money for Trafford Domestic Abuse Services (TDAS), a charity which supports families affected by domestic abuse in Trafford and Salford.

The chair of the GM Ringway Association, Rich Hawksworth, who joined Castlefield’s MD Nick Ogden on Stage 14 of the walk, said: “When we created the GM Ringway, we hoped that at some point a team would walk the whole 200 miles in just one day. I am therefore delighted that a Manchester firm, Castlefield Recruitment, with its deep roots in the local community, is the first organisation to accomplish this feat.

“Being done for the benefit of a fantastic charity like Trafford Domestic Abuse Services is an added bonus. Many congratulations to Nick, and the whole of the Castlefield team, on this landmark achievement.”

Staff from TDAS, also took part in Castlefield’s one-day GM Ringway challenge, taking on Stage 19 of the route which runs between Altrincham and Stretford.
