Founder of the GM Ringway, Dr Andrew Read, has had a series of walks recently published on Manchester’s official tourism website, Visit Manchester.
Dr Read, who also is the author of the Ordnance Survey’s Outstanding Circular Walks in Greater Manchester book – which features 28 circular routes covering a total of 190 miles across all parts of GM – devised the walks to all be accessible by public transport (as are all the stages of the GM Ringway).

For Visit Manchester, he has handpicked six walks which take in a range of landscapes across the region. They include walks taking in Hollingworth Lake, Dovestone Reservoir, Jumbles Country Park, Irwell Valley, Peak Forest Canal, and the Tame Valley.
Whether you’re looking for a waterside stroll, woodland trails, or a longer countryside walk, each guide includes route information, nearby attractions and places to eat and drink, making it easy to plan a day out.
You can find all the walks on the Visit Manchester website here.
